Out of the hundreds of thousands of games on Roblox, one in particular is on the rise: Dress to Impress. Released in October of 2023, Dress To Impress garnered over 3.5 billion visits just a year after its launch, with 91 percent of reviews being positive and over 300,000 active players daily. With themes ranging from “Y2K”, to “Zombie Apocalypse,” players have 5 minutes to dress up with clothing items scattered across the “dressing room.” After the time runs out, everyone struts on the runway one-by-one, and participants rate each outfit from one to five stars. After the voting period is over, the podium is revealed, and the top 3 outfits are displayed! After, the round starts over with another theme.
Dress To Impress reaches a wide audience, with content creators like CaseOh, Sinjin Drowning, LanaRae, and popstar Madison Beer all playing Dress To Impress. This summer, pop artist Charli xcx collaborated with Dress To Impress to promote her album “BRAT,” adding exclusive items pertaining to the album.
In this article, I am joined by our own Irish Diana Martinez Garcia ‘28 and Abigail Manlapaz ‘28 and Spartans from ICA Cristo Rey High School, Melawit Yemane and Andrea Lopez. Together, we will be voting on each others outfits and seeing who wins, followed by a short interview portion!
Theme 1: Concert Outfit
For this theme, players must dress as if they are going to a concert. They could dress simply as a concert-goer, a superfan, or even the performer themselves.
- Do you think you deserved first place?
“I don’t think I deserved it because I didn’t finish–actually, I did deserve it because I was looking for something and it wasted my time. If I finished, I would’ve won.” -Melawit Yemane
“We all know who deserved first…me. That’s why I’m in first place.” -Diana Martinez Garcia ‘28
Theme 2: Me in 10 years
For this theme, players must dress as what they aspire to be in 10 years, or they could dress as an older version of themselves.
- How hard was this theme?
“I didn’t like it, it was okay. I thought it was too basic for a theme [since] I couldn’t get that creative.” -Diana Martinez Garcia ‘28
Theme 3: Childhood Stories
For this theme, players must dress as stories or characters they remember from their childhood. However, this isn’t exclusive to stories, as many get creative. People have dressed up as Snow White, Strawberry Shortcake, and Spongebob Squarepants.
- Who had the best outfit?
“The duo dressed up as Mary and the Little Lamb had the best outfit. Their outfits were creative and cute.” -Andrea Lopez
“I agree, the people dressed as Mary and the Little Lamb had the best outfit. They actually put effort and detail into their outfits.” -Abigail Manlapaz ‘28
OVERALL : On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate the game?
- “Sometimes it’s a 10, [while] sometimes it’s a 0 because I can’t win. Actually, I’d say it’s a 7.” -Melawit Yemane
- “It’s a 10, because it’s interesting. I like to dress up and come up with good ideas.” -Diana Martinez Garcia ‘28
- “It’s a 3 because people…they’re just bad.” -Andrea Lopez
- “I would rate it an 8 out of 10, because sometimes people are annoying. Their outfits aren’t good but they still win. Other than that it’s fun.” -Abigail Manlapaz ‘28
On average, they rated the game a 7/10. Dress To Impress has quickly captivated the hearts of many people in our generation. As you walk through the SHC campus, you may have seen someone on their computer playing Dress To Impress. No matter your age, interest in fashion or Roblox, Dress To Impress is a compelling game and worth a try!
